Ayampe is a small village on the coast of Ecuador with indigenous roots where a river meets the sea. The village is the most southern point in the province of Manabi and just a few miles downstream from Machalilla national park. For many, including myself it is a center of healing with yoga sessions taking place somewhere in the village nearly any hour of the day, It is a center of culture with indigenous shaman sharing insights from the jungle and of course we have coconuts.
Alejandro and I have been conceiving the Butterfly Lounge for several years. We were looking for the right team to help us develop the space with a focus on a stainable esthetic that would preserve the garden where we grow mulberry, passion fruit, coffee, vanilla, banana, mame, avocado, lime, lavender, time and oregano all shrouded in the intoxicating perfume of gardenia and floriponida blooms. It is a healing space to be and let your creativity grow. The residency is a moderately structured program focusing on wellness of body and mind with plenty of time for creative growth.
The Butterfly Lounge offers two private bedrooms, an open studio with beds, yoga deck, pool and jacuzzi located a five minute walk to the beach. We can accommodate 2-3 artists at a time for stays of one to three weeks.
