ceiling of creation
Deep within the Choco forest of Ecuador far yet never far enough from the influence of man is a valley below the Cotacachi reserve in the Canande water shed the forest canopy reflect a plan unfolding based on a natural order of things. From the top of the world, the backbone pf the Andes mountains down to the pacific the forest used to grow for several million years. Diversity abounds and the blueprints for every living thing are written somewhere hidden in these leaves.

Matapalo
The Matapalo is a canibal tree that needs a host to begin its journey of transformation. It uses its host for support grabbing hold and eventually smothering and consuming it. As frighting as this may sound it is an indicator species that a degraded forest is recovering. In its branches birds, bats and countless others will find a home. Its leaves blanket the forest floor and give back to the soil. Under its canopy shelter is provided for shade species to grow and moisture is collected from the the air. Death, rebirth and a forest grows. Part of the exhibition TreeTalk 3.0
