I was recently commissioned to take some corporate head shots and cover and interview of Ronaldo Marques the global GM of Shell. I had initial plans of grandeur for this shoot that was to take place at the Lantern Bar at the New Fullerton Bay Hotel in Singapore. If you haven't been I would highly recommend it as it has one of the best views of the Singapore CBD. Unfortunately the week prior to the shoot we ran into a few issues with location approval. The key individual in charge had been off work on medical leave and although approval in principle had been given it I still did not have official sign off. In the mean time another group had extended their booking at the hotel leaving us without a location and executives flying in from around the world to participate in the photo shoot and interview without a location. In the hours before the shoot, our key contact at the hotel was able to arrange for a location in their restaurant at the landing pad to facilitate the interview, however, we would be limited on equipment and staff we could bring.
Now we were under pressure to perform with minimal kit and crew. I was quite concerned about hair and makeup and being limited to using only a single speedlight. I had seen a picture on linked in for Ronaldo and was concerned his skin tone require a serious coat of base. Luckily, when he showed up his skin was flawless. There are women in their 20s who might wish for his skin tone.
Despite all of the last minute hassles that added a great deal of stress to what should have been a simple shoot, we were able to produce some respectable output.
